DYNAMIC CORE

Twill Braiding for Abrasion Resistance

DYNAMIC CORE (also known as the Twill Braiding System) is a braiding pattern where each sheath strand passes over one strand before passing under one, creating a 1-over-1 twill weave instead of the conventional 2-over-2 plain braid. This produces a tighter, smoother sheath surface that resists abrasion significantly better than standard constructions. The result is a more compact rope with a noticeably smoother hand feel.

The twill pattern creates a smoother surface profile — fewer fiber crossover points means less friction against rock, devices, and edge protectors

Tighter packing of the sheath strands produces a more compact rope that feeds smoothly through descenders and ascenders

Reduced surface roughness means less rope-on-rope friction in pulley systems and redirects

Measurably extends rope life in abrasion-intensive applications

On the braiding machine, the bobbin carriers are programmed to follow a twill path rather than a plain braid path. Each carrier moves over one opposing carrier before ducking under one. Currently applied exclusively to 48-strand dynamic ropes (9.4mm and 9.8mm), the braiding angle and yarn twist are coordinated with the twill pattern to achieve the target balance of abrasion resistance, flexibility, and sheath proportion.
