SYNX

Inter-Layer Friction Anti-Slippage

SYNX is ARMBURY's anti-slippage technology. A controlled inter-layer friction treatment is applied to the sheath–core interface during the braiding process, dramatically increasing the grip between the two layers. The result is minimal sheath slippage under load, more consistent handling, and a noticeably prolonged rope service life. SYNX is distinct from INTERCORE: INTERCORE is a true sheath-core bonding technology, while SYNX relies on physical inter-layer friction.

Minimal sheath slippage means the rope maintains consistent handling and device compatibility throughout its entire service life

If the sheath is cut or damaged, SYNX prevents the sheath from bunching away from the damage site — keeping the core protected on either side of the cut

Critical safety feature: if a sheath is severed over an edge, the core remains loadable because the sheath does not slide off

Eliminates the need to retire ropes due to minor sheath migration that would otherwise compromise device feeding

During braiding, a controlled friction treatment is applied at the interface between the sheath and the core. As the sheath is laid down over the core, this treatment increases the inter-layer grip along the entire length of the rope, so the two layers move together under tension instead of sliding independently. The resulting structure is then dimensionally stabilised through the THERMO SHEATH heat treatment, locking in consistent handling and prolonging service life.
