THERMO SHEATH

Heat Stabilization for Dimensional Consistency

THERMO SHEATH is a controlled thermal treatment applied to every ARMBURY dynamic and static rope after braiding. The rope passes through an infrared chamber where the heat permanently harmonizes the tension between sheath and core yarns, ensuring both components work together as a balanced system rather than as separate layers.

Prevents post-manufacture shrinkage that would alter rope diameter and handling over time

Equalizes the gliding characteristics between inner core strands and outer sheath fibers

Produces consistent suppleness from the first use — the rope will not stiffen with age

Ensures dimensional stability so the rope maintains its rated diameter throughout its service life

During the rope braiding process, it enters an infrared chamber where infrared radiation is used for heating. This allows the rope fibers to be heated evenly throughout. Under tension, internal stresses are relieved and the molecular structure is stabilized, thereby improving dimensional stability and handling.

Process Type
Infrared chamber under tension
Heating Method
Infrared radiation — even penetration through sheath and core
Outcome
Relieves internal stresses, stabilizes molecular structure
Process Sequence
Applied in-line during braiding, before chemical treatments
  • Dynamic Ropes
  • Static Ropes
  • All ARMBURY Products

This is the foundational process — every ARMBURY rope begins here before any other treatment is applied.

Applied to 100% of ARMBURY ropes as a standard process. The foundation treatment that all other technologies build upon.
